Barbara Halper, MBA, JD
Barbara Halper is a principal of FactRight. In addition to extensive litigation and business experience, she has been involved in development, management, acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate. Halper was the Vice Chair of the REISA Due Diligence Committee. Prior to FactRight, she served as a due diligence officer for a national broker-dealer and a chief operating officer for a securitized real estate syndicator. She holds her Series 22, 39 and 63 licenses.
As General Counsel of Orchard Securities LLC, Hellewell's responsibilities focus on drafting and negotiating agreements related to securities, insurance, real property, tax issues and other legal matters related to Orchard. He also assists with Orchard's Chief Compliance Officer with respect to Orchard's regulatory compliance, and works closely with Orchard's outside counsel and the legal counsel to sponsors on a wide range of issues. Prior to joining Orchard, Hellewell's professional experience includes working for an international commercial real estate company, and a commercial real estate development company that developed assisted living centers, retail centers and office buildings. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and his juris doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He is also a member of the Utah State Bar, District of Columbia Bar and the American Bar Association.
Rick Murphy started with Berthel Fisher in 1995 as Director of Sales & Marketing for its equipment finance subsidiary. He was responsible for the placement of over $65MM of investor equity / bank loans in equipment leases including telecom, computer, agricultural equipment, and energy efficiency programs. In addition to his duties overseeing finance originations, workouts, credit, and lender relations, in 2007, Murphy was promoted to Vice President, Syndicate Mgr. of Berthel Fisher & Company Financial Services, Inc., providing due diligence, and product promotion for Alternative Investment offerings including REITs, oil and gas programs, real estate, and ii nvestment banking offerings for the broker-dealer. In January 2008, he was promoted to Sr. Vice President and is a member of the executive management team at Berthel Fisher & Company Financial Services, Inc. In October 2009, Murphy was named Executive Vice President of the broker-dealer and oversees Business Development, Managed Money Dept., and the Insurance Dept. for the broker-dealer. He reports directly to the CEO Tom Berthel. He holds his FINRA securities licenses 7, 24 and 66.
Brandon Reif is the managing partner of Winget Spadafora and Schwartzberg LLP's California office and shares responsibility for its management and operations. He is a trial attorney with extensive courtroom experience who has tried cases to verdict. He is also an accomplished dispute resolution practitioner who has settled cases on terms favorable to his clients. Reif has been most active representing the securities and financial services industries in lawsuits, arbitration proceedings and regulatory enforcement actions. He has handled hundreds of securities and financial services disputes pending throughout the United States in state and federal courts and in arbitration proceedings before FINRA, AAA and JAMS involving the full range of securities and financial products offered to the public. He defends clients in securities class action cases. He also represents clients with inquiries from the SEC, SROs and state regulators, including routine and cause examinations and regulatory sweeps. Reif earned his BA in English and criminal justice from the State University of New York and his JD from the University of Miami School of Law.
